Going Shopping!

In my math class we've been learning about money!  We've identified the most common coins and have talked about dollars too.  We've even learned how to count money amounts.  We put all of our skills to use today when we went shopping at the Quaker Closet (our school store).

We were so excited to spend the money we used during our unit!

Mrs. Cullen had set up a table of items JUST for US!

Looking at all the great items and making our selections.

Lizzy made her decisions first and went to the register.

Lukas was next!

Lily made some great choices...... would she have enough money?

She did!

Eliza brought her purchases to the counter next.

Charlotte found a few nifty writing utensils!

A few friends came back for an additional purchase.

Kennedy was VERY thoughtful about her purchases.

Checking to see if she has enough money.

Friends who were finished, shared their items and examined their receipts.

It was a successful shopping trip!

On our way back to the Lower School!

Thank you, Mrs. Cullen for all of your assistance this morning!  It was so much fun to put our skills to use at a REAL store.

First graders, did you enjoy this unit on money?  What was something new you learned?  How can you use this skill in the future?  Post a comment to share with all of us.
